Surprise Visit
1 Jun 2007
Ever since I can remember music has been a major part of my life. From standing on a stool as a child and performing all the nursery rhyme songs to performing every Sunday in church.
My family would gather around the piano in the living room, my dad played the harmonica, my mom played the piano, my grandfather would either play the piano or the accordian and I would sing.
Music and singing have been ever-present wherever I go and since moving to Florida I've sung with several bands, with keyboardists as a duo, plus the years I branched out on my own with a keyboard and guitar singing in local restaurants. I've gotten to know many local musicians and when socializing at their gigs am called upon to render a song or two. One time while singing in a restaurant a surprise personality came in. Kaye Ballard had a singing engagement in the city's performing arts center and when she was through had asked her agent to take her to a local restaurant for a night cap. I was thrilled to sing for her and during a break she told me she enjoyed my singing and I should take myself to Hollywood.
During my music career I enjoyed meeting and talking with Andy Williams, who autographed my music, also the jazz leader Dave Brubeck, TV's Peter Marshall, singer Pia Zidora, comedian Norm Cosby, Chris Isaak, Don Ho, whom I sang with, Rosemary Clooney and my meeting with Elvis, who autographed a photo for me.
Finding and helping new musicians by selling quality instruments is my passion and goal.
